How to waste a day, and where I want to do itby Miko
Published: 09/25/2006today I had the best ride so far here in TX. Two coworkers and I piled into my car and drove to Bastrop State Forest to ride the park roads. A few hours later we were tired, happy, relaxed, and ready to eat. We didn't go fast, and I only got in my big ring twice, but it was such a cool place to ride. Can't wait to go back, and now we're going to try and seek out other places within an hour to ride from.
No traffic, constant sttep walls to climb and descend, and the smell of pine in the air. It rocked. It made me think of places I've ridden, and we were talking about where we wanted to ride. Me, I love to ride in the Adirondacks, especially if I base myself in Wilmington or Lake Placid. But I want to hit many other places, too. So, I guess I need to see how to afford such wishes and see how my wife and I can enjoy them together. Hmmmm...
I now am the owner of a Specialized Tarmac frame and fork. I plan to put SRAM Force on it. Now, I don't get paid by anyone for this little record of my thoughts in cyberland, so this is just my personal opinion. Based upon years of experience, both in riding, racing, and servicing bikes, SRAM has done it right. Toss your Shimano, and ditch Campy. You won't be sorry. Sram works better, is lighter, and is better engineered, plus the few moving parts are way more robust and dirt resistant. I've ridden them all, and I don't even get any kind of a real deal until next year and am willing to fork my own cash over for this stuff. Enough said.

Oh, and I might be coming up north for the Syracuse Stage race next year, and hopefully Battenkill Roubaix. Anyone want to put up a wayward Texan for Syracuse? Please?
