Tour De Quebec - 7/9 to 7/12

Published: 07/02/2009

TDQ 2009 : 18 confirmed teams to the upcomming Tour de Québec 2009

The second edition of the Tour de Québec, to be held July 9-12 in the region of Quebec, just confimed 18 teams. On board are the best squads from Eastern Canada as well as many top amateur american team from North-East of United States. The presence of a team from France and Haïti add an international flavour to the field.

Race will start on Orleans Island with 130km road race (4 loops). The next day, an individual time trial following the St-Lawrence river followed by a 50km criterium in Beauport should offer a great show for the cycling enthusiasts. Saturday and Sunday include two difficult circuit of 11 and 5,7km, respectively at St-Augustin and St-Anne-de-Beaupré. Guillaume Boivin, the new canadian champion, and his team Volkswagen would have to do to keep the title he won last year with his former team.

Among other favorites, we have Derrick St-John, from Ride With Rendall. St-John just finished 8th overall and first canadian at Tour de Beauce, in june. Garneau Club Chaussures, with brazilian Octavio Bulgarelli and Hugo Houle, actual leader at Mardis de Lachine could also shake up the race, as well as Probikepool / Kuota, with André Tremblay, 2nd at 2009 nationals. American teams should offer a great opposition just like the French team.
